This tour is highly recommended for those visiting Cambodia for the first time.

In Phnom Penh, the political and cultural heart of the country, you will visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) and the Killing Fields. These sites convey the legacy of the Pol Pot era and are essential destinations for understanding Cambodia’s history and the importance of peace.

Based in Siem Reap, you will explore the magnificent Angkor Archaeological Park, where you can witness the breathtaking sunrise over Angkor Wat and the iconic “smiling faces” of the Bayon Temple.

Additionally, the itinerary includes a visit to the World Heritage site, Sambor Prei Kuk—a hidden gem that can be challenging to reach on your own.

Day 1: Arrival in Phnom Penh

Upon arrival at Phnom Penh Techo International Airport , you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel for check-in and rest.

09:00 – Depart from the Hotel

  • Choeung Ek Genocidal Center (The Killing Field) – One of many ‘Killing Fields’ in Cambodia. Human bones can still be seen sticking out of the ground. A Buddhist stupa, packed with thousands of skulls, serves as a memorial to the dead.
  • Wat Phnom  – A Buddhist temple (Wat) is a pagoda that symbolizes the name of Phnom Penh, a historical site in the record of Khmer national identity.
  • Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum  – The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is the memorial site of the S-21 interrogation and detention center of the Khmer Rouge regime. Located in the heart of Phnom Penh, it preserves a tragic period in history with the aim to encourage visitors to be messengers of peace.
  • Central Market  – A landmark Art Deco building constructed in 1937. It is known for its distinctive bright yellow dome and four branching arms, housing a vast array of stalls selling jewelry, clothing, electronics, and local street food.

Day 3: Visit to Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Site

  • Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Site – Sambor Prei Kuk was once Ishanapura, the capital of the Kingdom of Chenla, the Khmer empire that flourished in the late 6th and early 7th centuries. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the site consists of more than 100 temples, statues, and art features amidst the forested area.
  • Dinner at Local Restaurant *Apsara Dance Show – Enjoy an evening of fine dining and traditional Cambodian dance. Experience the Royal Ballet’s repertoire as dancers in exquisite, form-fitting attire narrate classical legends through fluid and symbolic movements.

Day 4: The Two Major Highlights of Siem Reap: Angkor Wat and Tonle Sap Lake

  • Angkor Wat – Experience the sunrise at Angkor Wat. This breathtaking sight is sure to become an unforgettable memory of your journey.
  • Angkor Thom – True to its name, Angkor Thom—the ‘Great City’—is the most expansive complex in the region. While Angkor Wat is largely a singular, contained site, Angkor Thom is a vast walled city housing several distinct landmarks. Visitors can explore a variety of iconic temples within its gates, most notably the Bayon, Phimeanakas, and Baphuon.
  • Tonle Sap Lake and Floating Village – The heart of Cambodia, the giant freshwater lake named Tonle Sap hosts a number of small floating villages. Adapting completely to the nature of the environment they live in, locals spend most of their lives floating on the water. Fascination with this lifestyle attracts tourists from around the world to Cambodia, in order to witness life on the Tonle Sap.
